Little Livewires
Every Friday (during term time) from 5:00pm until 5:50pm
This club for the younger children - in school years
Reception/year 1/Year 2 – began in January 2006 and
currently has 11 children although several are about to
leave to join Livewires Club. New members are to join in
September. Numbers will be limited to 20 children in order
to give enough time to each child.
The activities are structured in a way that makes them
different from Livewires club, so that children moving from
one club to the next will find enough of a change to be
exciting and challenging. The rules are the same as for
Livewires as they work!
After registration (subs are 50p) the children begin with a
game until all have arrived.
The next activity can be a mix of craft/colouring/
games/talks. Each term a subject is chosen to be the theme
so that the children can learn in a fun way about a certain
topic. Topics Covered are:
Animals/People/Trees/Food/Insects/Water/Fish/Music/Transport/Places
/Occupations/Sports/Clothes and shoes/ Entertainment/
Games/Wild animals and Birds. This means that any child
being in Little Livewires for a full three years gets to
look at all the topics. Any information sheets or colouring
sheets are then put into each child's folder which they tale
home at the end of each year (July). Each subject has
Christian teaching brought into the subject to show the
children that everything in life has a purpose and design.
There is a story each week which the children love, and to
end their short but busy time each week they have a few
action songs – and each one gets a turn to ‘have a lolly’ at
home time.
Each week A child is given the chance to say a prayer at the
end, saying thank you to God for something.
PROVERBS 22 V 6
Each year the little ones have their own race in Livewires
Sports day and also have a minor part in the twice yearly
Livewires plays/musicals. They were included on the last CD
“Christmas with Livewires” with their own rendering of Away
in a Manger plus a unique track of their own.
The leaders are: Maureen Forder – Katie Clague – and helper
Erin Clague, herself an ex-Livewire. Leaders have taken the
DCF Child protection course – in association with CCPAS –
and are CRB checked.
